On May 30, Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko handed in to the injured Olympic athlete Maria Komissarova keys to an apartment in the new residential estate RIO in Soyuzny avenue (where Setl City is the developer).
On that day Maria had just returned to St. Petersburg after treatment and rehabilitation in Spain. The girls’ tragic story has touched the heart of every resident of St. Petersburg: the Russian downhill skier, an international-class Master of Sports, was seriously injured during her training at the Olympic Games in Sochi.
As one of the steps to help the young sportswoman, the city has decided, with the support of the Association of St. Petersburg Builders, to donate to the girl an apartment in a new house.
The RIO residential estate built at the intersection of Kollontay street and Dalnevostochny avenue in Nevsky district of St. Petersburg was commissioned in October last year. The house is conveniently situated near the key thoroughfares, and it takes just 15 minutes to get to the center of the city. The Prospect Bolshevikov metro station is right near the place, as well as tram and bus stops, and a number of social and shopping sites.
The apartment provided to Maria is equipped taking into account the needs and capabilities of its new tenant: there is a lift device at the entrance to the house, the space inside is equipped with special rails, and the doors have expanded openings.
The Governor has said he hopes that Maria finds the new apartment comfortable, wished her a successful rehabilitation and assured her that further help and support will be provided to her.
