Setl City to Restore Vege's Mansion on Oktyabrskaya Embankment
2018 june 21
Setl City (a company of Setl Group) will restore at its own expense an architectural monument – G.I. Vege’s mansion at 38, Oktyabrskaya Embankment, which is now in a dilapidated condition. The developer has already signed a preservation commitment prepared by the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (KGIOP). Vege’s mansion is a building erected in the late 19th century in the style of eclecticism in the territory of the former Kinovievsky Ultramarine Factory that belonged to industrialist Georgy Vege. Today, the mansion with its unique exterior and interiors has been recognized as a regional architectural monument and is protected. Setl City took over the building from its previous owner, when it was almost destroyed. No preservation efforts had been exerted in the mansion for many years. In accordance with the signed preservation commitment, Setl City will ensure the conservation of Vege’s mansion at its own expense by the end of 2018, including emergency work. The developer intends to restore the historical appearance of the building and to recreate its unique interiors at its own expense. The restoration project to be implemented within 4 years is being developed by LLC NIiPI Spetsrestavratsiya to the order of Setl City. The specialists will preserve the spatial design of the mansion, including the historical dimensions of the building and the dimensions of the gable roof, as well as the external and internal walls, balconies and the main staircase. The architectural and artistic design of the façades will be recreated, and the decorative, artistic and color decoration of the interiors – the ceiling and wall moulding, a frieze with floral ornamentation in one of the halls, and pilasters with caryatids – will be restored. Art and craft items, including mirrors, and a steel safe decorated with ornaments, are to be preserved and restored. After the work is completed, the restored mansion will become another unique attraction on the map of St. Petersburg. The land plot, on which the cultural heritage site is located, is situated within the territory of the construction of a new Setl City’s comfort+ class residential estate on Oktyabrskaya Embankment. The construction of the residential estate is to start in the 4th quarter of 2018. The residential estate with kindergartens and a school is expected to be built for five years. Most of the apartments will have a view of the Neva river and city sights. Various architectural concepts are proposed for the buildings – from rectangular and L-shaped configurations to semicircular volumes. The territory inside the complex will be divided into several cozy green courtyards with children’s playgrounds and sports areas. Petersburg Real Estate will be the exclusive broker of the project.
